Top 10 Ways Savvy Women Use the Internet Busy women running families, careers, and households want accurate and helpful information quickly, and many turn to the invaluable Internet for that information. Here's a list of 10 ways savvy women use the Internet to search for information in need: 1. Gift ideas: There are a few sites online you can go to and search for gift giving ideas for him or her of any age. You'll be able to see what's popular for the kids and what's trendy for the grown-ups in your life. Try findgift.com in your searching. 2. Price comparing: You know a few different stores carry the same item, but who has the cheapest price? Bonus: You might be able to call the store closest to you (assuming they don't have the lowest price) and inform them of the store carrying the same product and their sale price. They may be willing to match that price and you'll save time and gas money by not traveling to the farther store. 3. Coupons: Need a coupon? Some manufacturers are now providing coupons on their Websites for you to print off and use or apply towards an online purchase. Do a search for your favorite brand with the word "coupon" next to it to see what's out there. 4. Medical information: Assuming you're not in an emergency situation, the Internet can help you get an idea of what possible medical situations you're facing. Sites like webmd and mayoclinic link symptoms to possible illnesses and can also provide some suggested remedies. These are only suggestions though, and it's always recommended you see a doctor. 5. Home improvements: Do-it-yourself sites have popped up all over the place, teaching skills like painting a room, building shelves, fixing a sink, or designing the perfect garden. Gone are the days of needing to call a professional for tips first; simply type in the name of the project you wish to complete with the words "How to" in front and you'll get your instructions. 6. Research: Whether you need information for your kid's homework or for your own, using a major search engine can provide you with more than enough information. Finding books, definitions, dates, studies, and historical events are a breeze. If you're still stuck, you can also find the number of your local public library online for their help. 7. Learning a new skill: Are you ready to learn a new skill to add to your resume? What about just learning how to write a better resume? Just as professionals for do-it-yourself projects come second, so do tutors for learning. Learn a second language, faster typing skills, or get new recipes from the Internet. A new skill to increase your own knowledge is a click (with some studying/practice) away. 8. Paying bills: Because "time is of the essence," quickly paying bills and banking online is a great time saver. You can breeze through paying your bills in a few minutes, and no stamps are involved. 9. Product comparisons: Deciding between two similar items? Doing a search for each item can get you detailed information without having to leave your house and travel from store to store. (You can even find which stores carry your product.) Make your list of pros, cons, and price of each and you'll have your winner. 10. Selling products/making money: Internet businesses and jobs can be found to either supply to or be your main stream of income. Watch out for scams that promise tons of money with little effort (the more exclamation points used, the scarier the scam). Do your research before embarking upon any make-money-from-home idea by using sites like internetbasedmoms.com. Otherwise, take your Internet business idea and get it started.
